Borough loan program established | Local
The Borough of Huntingdon strives to help create new businesses in the community.
Those words came to fruition at the September borough council meeting when members approved a business loan program. The microcredit initiative will provide small, low-interest loans to people starting a small business anywhere in the community. The Borough of Huntingdon will finance the program. Council Chairman Jim Bair said procedures and requirements for applying for a loan will be established and a Loan Review Committee will be established to oversee the project. The program is similar to a previous one funded by Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds.
